In short: JLPT Hero does not collect, store or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.

What stays on your device

Your progress (the words you have played and reviewed, your streak and badges), your settings, and the kana and kanji you write in Writing practice are saved only on your iPhone or iPad. They are not sent to us or to anyone else. If you delete the app, they are deleted with it.

Handwriting

When you write a character, the app checks your strokes on your device against the character's stroke order. Your handwriting is not uploaded.

Sound

The word audio is built into the app. For a word without its own audio, the app uses the Japanese voice built into iOS, on your device. The app does not use the microphone.

Purchases

JLPT Hero Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and your Apple ID; we never see your name, email address or payment details. The app only asks Apple whether Pro is active on your device. If you bought the earlier "Unlock Everything" purchase, the app recognises it on your device, or on a new device with Restore on the Pro screen.

Reminders

If you turn on daily reminders, they are scheduled on your device by iOS. No information leaves your device to send them.

Feedback

If you choose to email us from the app, we receive your email and use it only to reply. We do not add it to any list or share it.

Children

JLPT Hero collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
